Adding Value to the Deal
This workshop focuses on the lawyer’s role as business counselor. After this workshop, the participants will know
- how to look at a deal from the client’s business perspective; and
- how to add value to a transaction by identifying business issues that are buried in the principals’ agreement.
The core of the workshop is a five-prong framework that the participants can use to analyze a business deal and to recognize the business issues. It is taught first through a brief lecture. The remainder of the class is devoted to workshop exercises that require the participants to apply the framework.
